The Equikind Bits are made from hi-tech plastic moulded around a stainless steel centre for added durability, and feature an apple flavour to help encourage acceptance of the bit, mouthing and help to improve performance.

The Equikind Bits are warmer to the touch than traditional stainless steel bits making it ideal for younger horses or horses with a sensitive mouth.

The Shires Equikind Peanut 2 Ring Gag is a double jointed bit that acts on the tongue and the bars of the mouth. The double joint eliminates the nutcracker and palate action of a single jointed bit and instead applies pressure to the horse's tongue; the Lozenge has a slightly larger surface area than a french link joint and contours to the tongue.

Two reins should be used with the Shires Equikind Peanut 2 Ring Gag; One on the main snaffle ring of the bit and the other on the second lower ring. The Shires Equikind Peanut 2 Ring Gag is a less severe gag due to the lower angle of leverage.

If only one rein is to be used when using Shires Equikind Peanut 2 Ring Gag then roundings should be used to help maintain a better contact with the horse's mouth.
