Winter can be a difficult time for owning horses; mucking-out in the cold, riding our giddy-horse's and figuring out which Stable Rug is best for our horse. We've made winter that little bit easier by providing you an insight into our favourite winter stable rugs to keep your horse toasty warm!
But Just How Important Is It Choosing The Right Stable Rug?
It is just as important keeping your horse warm whilst they are in their stable, just as much as it is when they're out in the field. This is because although they are enclosed in 4-walls they're restricted with ways to keep themselves warm.
If your horse is clipped, they many need a heavier rug to keep them at a nice temperature. And if they have a fluffy coat, they may need a more a lighter weight rug. Of course, every horse is different and will react to temperatures uniquely - so try to keep an eye on your horse's temperature and regularly check them. It is important to not over-rug your horse as you don't want your horse to sweat whilst they're in their stable, but ensuring they are at a warm temperature is key!

Did you know the temperatures drop nisigficantly between 2:00am to sunrise each morning? As we aren't typically at the stables at this time (and if you are we applaud you!), we're unable to check and know for certain if our horse is warm throughout the night. But don't panic! How To Know If Your Horse Is Warm
If you're unsure how to check if your horse is warm or not, slide your hand down the front of their rug to the area just behind their shoulder. This is the best place to check if your horse is warm or cold. If you are ever unsure, we recommend asking someone else for their opinion!
